Android 8.0 - Oreo or Oatmeal cookie?
We all know that Android O (Android 8.0) and every year when we talk about the new Android version, we get excited about the dessert it will be named after. Earlier, we came across the news of Android 8.0 will be named after "Oreo". However, yesterday we got hold of the leaks stating that Android 8.0 will be named "Oatmeal Cookie".
The evidence was found in Android O's source code where the words "oc-dev" was used very frequently. One of the more notable points in the code stated that the Google Pixel devices are running the Android O Developer preview a.k.a "oc-dev". Another proof we got was a part of Google I/O presentation from 2017 where "oatmeal cookie" was written clearly.
Another possibility is that the Google hasn't yet received permission to use the word "Oreo" and is hence using the "oc"(Oatmeal Cookie) as a placeholder.
I am unable to think of a better name for the new Android version! What's your guess? Do tell us in the comment section.
