Huawei has officially announced the Maimang 6 in China yesterday. Surprisingly, the specifications of this device are intact with what was leaked for Mate 10 Lite. As Huawei is known for naming their devices differently in various regions, we can expect the Maimang 6 to be sold under the name "Mate 10 Lite" in certain markets. The predecessors of Maimang 6, i.e. Maimang 5 and Maimang 4 (in China), were sold as Huawei G9 and Huawei G8 respectively in other parts of the world.
Maimang 6 comes with a 5.9-inch IPS LCD display with 18:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ (1080x2160) resolution, protected by 2.5D Glass. It features a metal unibody design with dual cameras on both front and back. The rear camera consists of a 16MP primary sensor and a 2 MP secondary sensor to capture depth information while the front camera has a 13MP primary sensor and a 2MP secondary sensor. The fingerprint scanner is placed below the rear dual camera setup. Under the hood, there is an octa-core Kirin 659 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal memory expandable up to 256GB. The device is powered by a 3340mAh battery and runs on EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat.
The Maimang 6 comes with three color options: Obsidian Black, Streamer Gold, and Aurora Blue. The phone is priced at 2399 Yuan or Rs.24,000 ($365) and will go on sale in China from September 30.
The regular Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro will be launched on October 16, in Munich.
