Samsung announces 4 new camera sensors under the ISOCELL brand name
Smartphones are a very small part of Samsung's entire global business and this time it seems like they are serious about upping their camera game. Samsung will be building camera modules for smartphones – these will be branded “Samsung ISOCELL”. 4 different kinds of sensors will be produced, namely Bright, Fast, Slim, and Dual.
Each of these sensors is being built for specific niches:
Bright - These sensors will be aimed at low-light shooting offering high color accuracy and low noise even at slightly higher ISOs.
Fast - These sensors will focus more on fast autofocus with the ability to capture fast moving objects using modded shutter speed characteristics.
Slim - These will go for the smallest pixels available (0.9µm-1µm) to create modules for devices where space is at a premium, maybe bezel-less phones or even smartwatches.
Dual - These, as the name suggests, will be a combination of various sensors in order to constitute a modern dual camera setup.
