Xiaomi has been known to almost own the entire budget market with their Redmi Series phones, but if those phones had one popular complaint then it was the MIUI. Xiaomi's UI isn't bad by any means and is, as a matter of fact, one of the best non-stock skins out there. But wouldn't you agree that nothing in the world can beat the simplicity and performance of stock Android?
Xiaomi's latest A1 has become home to Google's Android One program which essentially gives us a Xiaomi device with pure stock android. Exciting right! If we look at specs and build then the A1 is essentially the Mi 5x with a very OnePlus 5-ish/ iPhone 7 plus-ish look. However, I don't consider that as a bad thing, these phones cost a lot more than the A1 and to strengthen the argument further, we have a dual camera setup. The Mi A1 boasts a powerful dual camera setup with the telephoto lens providing real 2x Optical zoom. Only the camera testing will reveal exact details, but of the few reviewers who've got the device, the camera performance is way above the price tag.
Some other things include a USB-C port at the bottom, a powerful amplifier on the headphone jack to power high-quality headphones, and the famous potrait mode in the camera app.
All this comes at a very aggressive price of Rs. 14,999. The A1 will be available on 12th September at 12 noon on Flipkart, Mi.com etc. Apart from that Xiaomi A1 will be available at the Mi Home stores and other offline retailers like Chroma, Vijay sales, Jumbo etc. Xiaomi has brought in a killer product and the pricing and offline availability all look like a positive path to regain its position in the market.
