The Sony Xperia XZ is the 2016 flagship from Sony , however , it lags behind the competition . The phone has a 5.2” FHD IPS display , which produces decent colors , the resolution however , lacks flagship qualities , and with the competition using sAMOLED displays , the XZ offers a less capable , lower level display , especially at its price point . The cameras on this device are underwhelming, and you really need to be experienced in cameras in order to navigate the software that is in the camera application . Once setup properly , the 23MP rear camera produces decent day shots , and rather poor night shots due to the aperure size. The 13MP front camera is one of a kind in this segment of smartphones , it produces great selfies , and has great detail in it , however , it has the same , pre-mentioned hard to navigate software and poor low light quality . When it comes to performance , the XZ is no slouch , it has the 2016 2nd to highest spec Qualcomm SnapDragon 820 , it performs great out of the box , but it degrades rather too quickly, becoming unbelievably slow after just a few weeks of use . Before I move on , I got to give Sony props for their blazing fast fingerprint scanner , which is conveniently located in the side power button , and offers great accuracy and speed , fastest in class. When it comes to interface , its very subjective , and I personally don’t like Sony’s skin very much , and I prefer Samsung’s Grace UX by a long throw . The Design is also a very subjective topic , and I don’t like too much either . I think the best color you can get an XZ in is Black . The main reason I dislike the design of the XZ is the incredibly large chin and forehead in the front , it looks like an iPhone , which is no star when it comes to design . Battery life is decent on the XZ , however , its not on par with others , like the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge , but its definitely better than the Apple iPhones . I have to give Sony props for including USB-C , rather than Micro-USB , which offers faster charging and data transfer speeds .
