The ASUS ZenFone series has played a major role in bringing the company back to in the Indian market. However, if recent reports are to be believed, the Taiwan company might already have plans to end it. And instead, focus on the premium ROG brand.
To focus on eSports mobile gaming market
ASUS recently had a board of directors meeting, discussing on their plans for the next year. A notion carried forward in those is the fact that the company will be changing its mobile phone strategy. As per the new strategy, ASUS is planning to focus more on the high-end premium flagship market. Especially the one that specifically caters to mobile gamers. This comes thanks to the exceptionally great reviews that the ASUS ROG Phone has received since its launch. The device is one of the best smartphones for mobile gaming. The company now plans to expand on that front and introduce more smartphones in the same lineup.
ZenFone series to be the casualty
The meeting further went on to state that the company will eventually be ending the value for money ZenFone lineup. This is quite strange since it is the ZenFone lineup that has actually brought the company back into the limelight. In fact, it was the ASUS ZenFone lineup that managed to shake Xiaomi off its throne in the budget market. However, that’s not the case everywhere. The meeting stated that the company is having a hard time facing Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo.
Take this with a pinch of salt
So, does this spell the end of the ZenFone lineup? Maybe, maybe not. You see, while the meeting did take place and ASUS does have plans to focus on the eSports mobile gaming platform, the ZenFone lineup could still continue to exist. The year 2019 is going to be crucial for them, and reports suggest that there is already another ZenFone device to be released in early 2019. Well, what do you think? Will the ZenFone lineup survive or be crushed by the ROG Phone lineup? Let us know in the comments below.
