Recently BlackBerry announced that the company is ready to drop Priv from the list of Android devices. The handset was launched in November 2015 and was getting regular updates from the company. Now the end has approached for the two-year support policy it had when the phone was launched. Nevertheless, the company has said that they will continue to complete every warranty obligations for the device.
In case if the Priv users face a critical security vulnerability they will get a fix for the problem from BlackBerry.
The company says, “Should a critical vulnerability be exposed we will engage our partners as needed to develop and deliver necessary patches,”.
They also disclosed that they will soon introduce a trade-up programme for the BlackBerry Priv users along with BB10 and BBOS handsets.
There is a good news for BB10 and BBos users the company has said that they will be supporting the devices for two more years. But along with this good news comes bad news, the company will shut down the BlackBerry world app, the BlackBerry Travel site, and the Playbook video calling service.
