The highlight of the CoolPad Cool 2 is its water-resistance quality. Like most phones, the metal build of the device is IPX4 rated and can withstand water splashes and dust. But we wouldn’t go as far as taking it for a swim. The handset has subtle u-shaped antenna lines kind of like the ones on the Redmi S2. Looking at the specs, the handset seems to be a midranger.
CoolPad has equipped the Cool 2 with a 5.7-inch HD+ IPS LCD display tucked plated with 2.5D curved glass. Under the metal chassis, Coolpad has tucked in a MediaTek MT6750 SoC assisted by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The handset has a 3,200mAh battery that runs Android 7.0 Nougat.
At the back of the device, Coolpad has installed a vertical dual camera setup. This includes a 13MP + 0.3MP combo barely making it a double shooter. The front side is equipped with an 8MP sensor. We’re told it can be used for face recognition, besides the rear fingerprint sensor for secure authentication.
The CoolPad Cool 2 pricing and availability is still yet to be known. However, the handset has only launched in China currently. It remains to be seen whether it will be sold in other regions.
