Coolpad Note 8 with 18:9 display teased for October 15th in India

Coolpad has just teased a new smartphone in its Note series of devices for India. The Coolpad Note series is the budget series for the company and is currently headed by the Snapdragon 435-toting Coolpad Note 6 which launched at Rs 8,999 earlier this year. Its successor will be the Coolpad Note 8. The handset is being launched exclusively on PayTM as can be seen in the official teasers below.

The teaser insists that Coolpad will be announcing the handset on October 15th and there’s a tagline – “Bigger Note Bigger View”. This is clearly a hint at a bigger thin-bezel display and thankfully there’s no notch on it. There’s another teaser that apparently hints at a dual camera setup. The Coolpad Note 6 already had a dual selfie shooter. So, it’s not clear what this teaser seeks to highlight in the Note 8. Apart from the teasers, there is virtually nothing that we know of the upcoming Coolpad Note 8.

Taking a look back at the Coolpad Note 6 for reference, the handset had a 5.5-inch Full-HD display, a middling Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC, and 4GB of RAM. The handset had a single 13MP rear camera and dual 8MP + 5MP shooters for selfies. The package was rounded off by a 4,070mAh battery making it a compelling product under Rs 10k. We should expect similar hardware from the Coolpad Note 8, if not better. The launch takes place on October 15th.
