Samsung is planning to release the successor of Galaxy S8 and S8+ at MWC in 2018. The highly popular event will commence on February 26 and will go on until March 1. The Galaxy S9 will be unveiled in this event only and you must know that this time, it is taking place in Barcelona, Spain.
According to a report, Samsung was planning on releasing the S9 as early as possible since they wanted to compete with the iPhone X. However, the company has noticed that the Galaxy S8/S8+ are doing fairly well against Apple’s latest device and hence we will see the Galaxy S9 sometime in late February.
The rumor mill was already speculating this information and now, it has been finalized.
Introducing the phone at MWC means that it would arrive in mid-March which is a month earlier than its predecessor’s release. The report also mentions that the S9 will probably be unveiled on February 27 (Korean time).
Just before we got this news, we stumbled upon a video leak which clearly shows the upcoming Galaxy S9 in full glory! The design and major features of the phone have been leaked through this video and people are believing the details to be absolutely accurate. Have a look at the leaked video and read further to know about the ‘expected’ specs of the Galaxy S9!
The video has been released by 91 Mobiles and OnLeaks and as you can see, it gives a holistic view of the upcoming flagship phone by Samsung! These renders have been sourced by Samsung itself and this is all the more reason for us to believe in them.
The renders show that the S9 will be a bit smaller than the Galaxy S8. The phone will measure 147.6 x 68.7 x 8.4mm which is a tad bit smaller than its predecessor. It is also shown in the video that the phone will have a 5.65″ screen, which is smaller than the 5.8″ AMOLED display of the Galaxy S8.
The screen is curved along the right and left edges, just like the predecessor! The S9 will come in some cute and amazing color variants too!
The position of the fingerprint scanner has been moved a bit since customers were facing issues with the Galaxy S8. The scanner was so close to the rear camera that a user touched the camera sensor every time he/she wanted to unlock the phone. Samsung has paid heed to this concern as the fingerprint scanner has been placed in an appropriate position, that is below the rear camera sensor.
The rumor mill had also churned out a speculation that the S9 will have dual rear cameras. However, the video confirms that the phone will be graced with only one rear camera sensor and the S9+ will be the one with dual cameras. The power button is adorned on the right side while the Bixby Assistant and Volume rockers will be available on the left side. The S9 will have a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C Port, and iris scanner.
The Galaxy S9 is also speculated to have 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM. It will probably have the Snapdragon 845 processor in the US and Exonys 9810 for the other countries. The phone will allegedly run Android 8.0 Oreo.
We are looking forward to Galaxy S9 unveiling in MWC in February and we hope that the phone lives up to the standard of Galaxy S8!
