Following the Galaxy Fold and the Galaxy Z Flip foldable phones launched last, we now have our first clear look at the next generation of the Samsung foldable phone – the Galaxy Z Fold 2. This new leak has been sourced by MySmartPrice.
Galaxy Z Fold 2 – Design renders
The renders indicate the Z Fold 2 5G will be available in two colours: Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze. The display has also been showcased in the render pointing towards the removal of the huge notch in favour of a tiny punch-hole, which is in line with Samsung’s S lineup of flagships. Also, it looks like the hinge has been constructed differently this time with an increased thickness which should increase the structural rigidity of the entire frame. This was expected considering the durability of the 1st generation Fold was circumspect. The camera layout resembles the renders and leaks of the Note 20’s camera module. The cameras will be flanked by an LED flash in a vertical layout. It seems, there’ll also be a slight hump in the camera module, similar to most flagships today.
Galaxy Z Fold 2- Possible specifications
The device will most probably house a 7.7 inch Super AMOLED panel when it is open, and a 6.23-inch Super AMOLED Panel for the front display, which is noticeably larger than the 1st gen Fold. It could also feature a 120Hz refresh rate with three cameras (64MP+12MP+12MP) on the rear and a 10MP front sensor. The phone is also expected t come with a 4356 mAh battery with support for 15W fast charging. While there’s no word yet on the processor inside the phone, the internal storage size is expected to go up to 512GB.
Galaxy Z Fold 2 – Availability and price
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is expected to be revealed alongside at Samsung Unpacked on the 5th of August. The last-gen Fold started at $1980 and the new Galaxy Z Fold 2 is rumoured to be similarly priced.
