We are just hours away from the Google Pixel 2 launch event and Evan Blass (@evleaks) had leaked both the Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL in its entirety. In his article on VentureBeat, he confirms that the smaller Pixel 2 (codenamed Walleye) would be manufactured by HTC, and its elder brother – Pixel 2 XL (codenamed Taimen) would be manufactured by LG.
Specwise, the smaller Pixel 2 will feature a 5-inch 1080p display with regular 16:9 aspect ratio, whereas Pixel 2 XL would come with a 6-inch QHD+ display with taller 18:9 aspect ratio. Apart from the display, both of them have similar specifications – Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM, 64/128GB storage, 12MP rear camera and front-facing stereo speakers. The devices are likely to come in three colors as shown in the image. The Pixel 2 will be priced at / and Pixel 2 XL at / for the lower/higher storage variants.
Taking a look at the image, we can clearly see some changes in the Pixel Launcher. Google has moved the search widget all the way down, which makes sense as the Pixel 2 XL has a taller 18:9 display, it would be easier to access the search widget from the bottom. We can also notice a calendar and weather widget at the top portion, where the search widget used to reside on first generation Pixel. Both the devices are rumored to run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
