One of the longest-running leaks in the history of leaks could be awarded to the “Lite version” of the Google Pixel phones. Since the first Pixel came, there has been constantly rumours going on that Google will release a toned-down version of its pixel phones to expand its horizon in the market. Looks like that is finally going to happen, as the Pixel 3 and 3 XL Lite said to pass through FCC certification.
Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL Lite: but when’s the launch?
The Mobile World Congress 2019 is on the verge to finish, and we haven’t heard about Google’s more affordable Pixel line-up. And they aren’t likely to be announced in Barcelona. But the FCC filing indicates that they might indeed be on its way for a spring launch, as suggested by Android Police couple of months ago.
Earlier in February, we saw how the Pixel 3 Lite and 3 XL Lite could look like. Plus in January this year, there was a detailed video out on YouTube showcasing the alleged Pixel 3 Lite phone. The FCC filing means Google is finally moving along with an idea of mid-range Pixel phones.
These Pixel phones are more than like to come to India as well. Looking at the current smartphone scene in the country, the market has a lot of heat in the mid-range segment. With Google coming in, it will only things worse for the struggling competition.
The FCC listing reveals the eight model names, they could all be different colours, storage capacities, and sizes that Google may end up offering. One of the fillings reveals that they could be running on Android 9 pie out of the box, which indicates that the company would not like to wait for the launch of these phones. As during September, they would have the regular Pixel phone upgrade due.
