Google project Tango ends on March 2018

Project Tango initiated by Google was launched in 2014, it was a small attempt to bring AR (Augmented reality) into mobile phones. The project did not gain any popularity as expected thus the search giant has decided on shutting the programme next year in March.

Tango will be succeeded by ARcore which is a new system of Augmented Reality launched August 2017. Project Tango is a hardware-reliant approach with special sensors to support Augmented Reality. Although Apple has managed to bring in AR on the iPhones and that too without the addition of any special hardware.

Ever since ARCore was launched in August we had the hunch that Google will end the Project Tango. Today it announced what we had assumed on its Twitter handle, “Google is continuing AR development with ARCore.”

The ARcore was initiated by introducing AR stickers on Pixel and Pixel 2 smartphones. Do you wish to know how AR stickers work? Click on this link to know it in detail.
