The Google station which was launched in September 2016 for free Wi-Fi in railway stations is now extending its boundaries. Google has considered expanding the horizons of the internet accessibility outside of the railway’s stations. It is planning to spread it to various cities across India.
Caesar Sengupta (VP of Product Managment) said while giving a speech at the Wi-Fi programme held in New Delhi. That they are ready to increase their audience. It has been several months since the launch of Google station which has enabled high-speed internet to more than 200 railway stations in India.
He mentioned that there are 7.5 million users currently using the internet via Google station in India. The programme has 227 stations to be specific which have access to Google station, along with this 22 stations are also going to go live this month. The company has aimed to connect 400 railway’s stations by next year.
The high-speed internet access is a boon to all its users, it is helping them connect freely with no insecurity. Public Wi-F- hotspots is going to be the trend in 2018, people will be able to download videos, listen to songs, video calls, and make internet calls. It was first restraint to stations but now the idea of public hotspots in the cities give me a sigh of relief. It is a bold and an effective step towards spreading the usage of the internet.
