The budget smartphone section of India is by far the most closely contested one. In fact there are some especially great phones under Rs 15,000. Gone are the days when one had to spend a ridiculous amount of money on smartphones to get an assured seamless performance. With companies like Motorola, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo in the mix, we have a plethora of options to choose from.
However, with so many options it becomes difficult to look for a device which offers everything to the user. Today, we are going to compare two such offerings: the Honor 9 Lite and the Mi A1 and see which phone satisfies the needs of price-conscious buyers appropriately.
Honor 9 Lite vs Xiaomi Mi A1: build and design
Honor 9 Lite
The Honor 9 Lite is a pretty stylish phone with a double-sided 2.5D glass design. The 18:9 aspect ratio display plays its part well and the phone looks premium indeed. But the all-glass rear panel is prone to fingerprints and it can ruin the premium looks of this device. However, the phone provides a solid grip, thanks to the plastic railing around the glass panel.
The glossy mirror-like finish of the phone is transparent to a level where you can clearly see a reflection. The frame of the Honor 9 Lite appears to be of metal but it is actually made of plastic, which owes to the weightlessness of the device. However, the power button and volume rocker are quite comfortable to use and the plastic build of these buttons do not hinder your experience. The fingerprint sensor is located beneath the dual rear cameras.
Xiaomi Mi A1
The Mi A1, on the other hand, has an all-metal design. Due to this, the phone is heavier than the Honor 9 Lite. This is not a negative trait, for it adds to the comfort factor of holding the phone. The power and volume rocker buttons are also made out of metal, therefore adding to the sturdiness. The grip on the phone is not excellent since metal bodies are prone to slippage and accidental damage. Just like the Honor 9 lite, the fingerprint scanner resides on the back panel of the Mi A1.
Coming to the display, the Mi A1 offers the good old 16:9 aspect ratio display with big bezels around it. True, the phone looks a little outdated when compared to the more modern design of the Honor 9 Lite, but we aren’t really complaining.
