HTC has done something innovative for the cryptocurrency enthusiasts out there. The company has released a blockchain phone called the Exodus 1 and it would make the process of investing and making transactions in cryptocurrency easier. The phone is the first of its kind and interestingly, can only be bought with cryptocurrency. The Exodus 1 is priced at 1.5 BTC or 4.78 ETH.
HTC Exodus 1: specifications and features
The device is the renamed HTC U12+ basically with a few changes. It comes with a 6.0-inch QHD+ display. The Exodus 1 runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor with a huge 6GB of RAM and 128GB of ROM. Coming to cameras, the device has a dual setup on the back and the front. The rear camera contains a 12MP + 16MP combination while the selfie snapper has an 8MP + 8MP configuration. The Exodus 1 is capable of taking Bokeh Mode shots with both its cameras.
It runs on a 3500mAh battery with a support for HTC Rapid Charger 3.0. The phone supports only a single SIM card and has an IP68 rating which means that it is resistant to dust and water. As for the rear panel, the Exodus 1 is particularly interesting. From the first look, it seems to have a transparent panel which shows everything under the hood. But when noticed closely, the rear panel just has a grey plastic coating with a motherboard designed on it. The phone also has the Edge Sense 2 feature which activates the smart virtual assistant and other actions when you squeeze the frame.
As for the software, the Exodus 1 runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. Additionally, it has quite a few security features like an enclave where your keys and virtual cash could be kept safe. A Social Key Recovery feature would let you access you cryptocurrency if you forget the key. The company has mentioned that this vault would also store all the data of its user in the future. A Zion Wallet is also present on the Exodus 1 to manage your daily transactions with cryptocurrency. The phone would start shipping in December 2018.
