Bezel-less and 18:9 – These words came out of nowhere and became so popular in the smartphone world, to a point where devices (at least flagships) without these two are considered less “Futuristic”. We have seen a ton of manufacturers releasing smartphones featuring bezel-less displays with 18:9 aspect ratio. Even Apple has jumped on the bandwagon so quickly which shouts how important this is going to be in future. If you’ve been a fan of HTC devices since the early days of Android and was eagerly waiting to see a bezel-less design from HTC, here is a happy news for you – HTC is said to be working on the U11 Plus which might feature a 6-inch 18:9 display with 1440×2880 resolution. Despite selling a part of its mobile division to Google, HTC is not yet quitting the game. HTC U11 Plus is kind of a refined ‘futuristic’ sibling of their current flagship U11 and is rumored to be announced on November 11 in China. As of now, it is not sure whether the device will be launched in other markets as well.
The internals of the phone are more or less similar to that of the U11. HTC U11 Plus may come with Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor, 4/6 GB of RAM, 64/128 GB UFS 2.1 internal storage, 12MP rear camera, 8MP front camera and IP68 water resistance. The U11 Plus will retain EdgeSense which was a unique feature of HTC U11. It is also rumored to have QuickCharge 3.0 and sadly, the headphone jack won’t make a return.
HTC U11 was one of the most underrated flagships of 2017. It did most things right, but couldn’t shine among Samsung’s and LG’s offerings. For sure, HTC U11 Plus has to compete with more devices than the HTC U11 did (if at all it is launched worldwide). Do you think a revamped design could bring HTC back in action?
