Huawei is about to launch their Huawei Mate 10 series of smartphones on October 16th, in Munich, Germany. With the launch date getting closer, specifications and renders of the devices are being leaked all over the internet. Huawei is rumored to announce three new smartphones at the event- Huawei Mate 10 Pro, Huawei Mate 10 and Huawei Mate 10 Lite. Previously, the devices were believed to carry codenames – ‘Blanc’, ‘Alps’ and ‘Marcel’ respectively. But today famous leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) claimed that the Mate 10 Lite will be codenamed ‘Rhone’.
That means Huawei may also release a special edition Mate 10 just like last year’s Mate 9 Porsche Edition with the codename ‘Marcel’. These are all speculations as of now since Huawei hasn’t officially released any details. But, they’ve already confirmed that Mate 10 Series would be the first to bear their all-new Kirin 970 SoC.
Kirin 970 was unveiled at IFA 2017, with dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for AI-related tasks. It is an octa-core chip with 4 Cortex-A73 at 2.4GHz and 4 Cortex A53 at 1.8GHz, manufactured by TSMC using a 10nm process and sports a Mali-G72 MP12 GPU. We are very excited to see the AI capabilities of Kirin 970 in action. With that said, let’s take a quick look at the leaked specifications and pricing.
