Huawei P20, P20 Plus leaks: specifications, price and more

Huawei P20 Plus renders

Huawei is looking forward to taking over the global smartphone market with its innovation. It is launching the Huawei P20 and P20 Plus smartphones on 27th March and has already sent out invites for the same. The event will happen in Paris. However, long before the invite, the phones became the talk of the town. Multiple leaks and rumours have surrounded the devices and there’s practically too much that we know about them now. Let’s look at their specs and other leaked information to brace ourselves for the upcoming event:

Huawei P20, P20 Plus leaks: specs

Huawei P20

The Huawei P20 is likely to arrive with a 5.8-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280p. The device is speculated to carry a 19:9 aspect ratio display which can vouch for minimum bezels around the whole frame. The device is likely to derive power from the HiSilicon Kirin 970 and carry 6GB of RAM. The battery capacity of the phone is likely to be 3600mAh.

Along with all this, the main USP of the phone is likely to be its triple rear camera setup. Huawei launched P series every year with an upgraded camera setup. If we are to follow the invite’s design, we will see three circles in the background. This clearly means a triple camera setup as Huawei P8, the first dual rear camera phone had two rings on its event invite.

Together, the three cameras will capture images with a resolution of 40p. They will also carry a support for 5x optical zoom and the P20 is likely to feature a 24MP selfie snapper.

Huawei P20 Plus

The Huawei P20 Plus is likely to carry a 6.0-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280p. The resolution would then pave the way for an aspect ratio of 19:9. The bezels on the smartphone would be minimized to a considerable extent and we are likely to see a home button it. However, the device has been leaked in two prototypes and one of them doesn’t actually have the button. What makes it more interesting is the fact that the P20 Plus lacks a fingerprint sensor.

There are chances of it having a facial recognition feature and what’s even more possible is an under-display fingerprint sensor. The phone is to be laced with AI-based camera and features. Along with this, it will also have a triple camera setup placed vertically on the back. Huawei generally puts a combination of RGB and monochrome sensors in its dual camera setups. It is possible that the third will be a Telephoto lens.

The phone carries a headphone jack on the top while the Huawei P20 doesn’t. The P20 measures 155.3 x 74.2 x 7.7 mm approx. The phone does carry an iPhone X inspired notch and we can clearly see it in the leaked CAD renders.

The two phones by Huawei will launch with the P20 Lite, which has been leaked numerous times too. The phone will carry a resolution of 1080 x 2280p. The phone will also feature the signature notch of the iPhone X. However, unlike the other two, the P20 Lite will feature a dual rear camera setup.

On the top of that, the phone will also carry a 3D facial recognition feature, Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 processor and a 6GB of RAM. The device has also been leaked to show Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0.

Price

The phone will be a lesser specced version of the Huawei P20 while the P20 Plus will be a heavier specced one. The Huawei P10 was launched at a price of $685 and the P20 can be expected to carry a price tag of $700 to $800. Whatever the price is, we will get to know it on 27th March.
