Instagram seperates the messaging feature into a new app

Instagram has separated the messaging into another app called Direct, this feature is very much similar to that of Snapchat. It is present on both Android and iOS. The availability of this app is in six countries which are Chile, Israel, Italy, Portugal, Turkey, and Uruguay. Although we have no certainty to when will this app be rolled out to the rest of the world.

If you are a Snapchat user you must be familiar that when you open the app it directly opens the camera. It makes it quick to click a snap and send it to your friends.  When you swipe left you have the messages you send and receive and on the right is the option where you can see your story as well as your friend’s. When you swipe right in your Instagram you come to the Direct option page i.e where you can chat with your friend’s.

This Direct messaging app has been a part of Instagram for a long time but since a few months, it has received good admiration from its users. This feature saw a boost after the launch of the Instagram stories though the stories don’t shift to the Direct app, you never know it might in the near future. Even if it happens a little later I am sure users will be thrilled as it makes so much sense. Introducing stories on Instagram was of utmost importance as all the other popular apps were introducing them. Users were liking the stories a lot and the Boomerang feature on this app is still very well received.

But a question arises in my mind, aren’t there too many messaging apps these days. Every app has the option of posting stories and chatting like Facebook has Messenger along with WhatsApp.

What do you feel are we being surrounded by multiple apps with almost similar features? Let us know in the comment section below.
