If newly released reports are right, the 2018 iPhone X will kick things up a notch and make the notch more unnoticeable. Also, this year we could actually see an iPhone X and in-display fingerprint scanner. Something that was the plan in the first place on the current iPhone X says a new report.

Although the report from Atherton Research claims the notch will be smaller, it is not known how much it will shrink. However, for that to happen, Apple will have to shrink the sensors on it too. Talk circling the industry has already led us to believe that Apple is working on a smaller TrueDepth camera module.
The latest report from Korea is that the new modules will be created by LG Innotek. And since more notches are going to appear inevitably in 2018, Apple has secondary supply backs ups now lined up in Chinese manufacturers. Currently, Sharp is the backup supplier, but new Chinese manufacturers will be roped in, as per the report.
Also, the news of the in-display fingerprint reader is quite refreshing. Since many iPhone users never got used to the Face ID. Bringing back the fingerprint sensor will get Apple back in the good books of many.
