It seems like the days of the notch are soon to be behind us, with smartphone brands now moving on to the mechanical slider concepts. Started off by Oppo with the Find X, Xiaomi and Honor have also joined the race. The Mi Mix 3 and the upcoming Honor Magic 2 both feature the slide-out design. Now, it seems like another Chinese company is all set to join the race.
As teased CEO Chang Cheng on Weibo, Lenovo is all set to announce the Lenovo Z5 Pro on November 1st. It is said to be the first smartphone from the company to sport a slider mechanism for the selfie cameras. As such, the smartphone is said to feature a bezel-less display without any notch. The design reduces the bezels, offering a higher screen-to-body ratio.
According to the renders, the slider will have an earpiece sandwiched with 2 front-facing cameras. As for the primary cameras, it will be a quad-camera setup with AI features. Lastly, Cheng also confirmed that the Lenovo Z5 Pro will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. This will make it the first device from the company to sport this feature as well.
Apart from the design changes, not much is known about the device. However, considering that the slide-out mechanism is currently seen only on flagship offerings, it could very well come with a Snapdragon 845 SoC along with 6/8GB of RAM.
