The LG G7 didn’t make an appearance at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. This was a surprise considering LG generally showcases its flagship phone every year at MWC. Having said that, a rumour had suggested that the G7 was in fact spotted at the event. Also, the leak highlighted that the G7 would be LG’s first phone with a notch. On the contrary, LG recently took to Reddit and asked its fans if they prefer the notch or not.

This made us wonder – will the LG G7 have a notch or not? Thankfully, you don’t have to wait any longer because Mr. Phone in collaboration with @OnLeaks – one of the most prolific leakers from the world of smartphones – brings you the LG G7 for the very first time!

We have obtained CAD renders (images) and a full 360-degree video of the phone. For your viewing pleasure, these renders are sprinkled across the article for you to see.LG G7 4

And yes, the LG G7 will indeed come with a notch. And, a bottom chin to go along with it! Looks like the notch will house the front camera, the earpiece grill, and the ambient light sensor. As per the leak from MWC, the G7 could come with the option to switch off the notch, like the recently launched P20 Pro.

A closer look at the phone reveals, that the G7 might actually go for the tried-and-tested glass sandwich design (look up: Samsung Galaxy S9, Huawei P20, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X). The glass on the front and the rear will mostly be protected by a metal railing running around the edges. Talking about the rear, you can spot a vertical dual camera setup. This is a different placement when compared to the the LG G6 and V30’s camera modules. LG G7 5

A fingerprint scanner sits below the vertical camera module. The flash is placed to the left of the module and below the flash you can see yet another slit, which we presume is the laser detection autofocus. At the bottom, you can find a speaker grille, a USB Type-C port, a microphone, and a 3.5mm jack. Yup, the jack exists here and we can once again hope for LG’s quad-DAC to make a comeback in the G7.LG G7 12

Now, here’s the confusing thing. There is a button on the right edge, and a button and a volume rocker on the left edge. We don’t know what these two buttons are for. However, if we have to make an educated guess, for the first time since the LG G2, the company has moved the power button from the rear. But, we could be entirely wrong about that presumption. LG G7 13

Also, that still doesn’t explain the extra button below the volume rocker on the left. Is LG building its very own Smart Assistant like Samsung’s Bixby? Let us know in the comments section what you guys think this button could be?LG G7 6

On the top edge, you will notice another microphone and a SIM card tray. There are plastic inserts on the top and the bottom edge for the antennas to receive cellphone signals without any hitch. LG G7 7

LG G7: specs and other details

According to the additional information we’ve received – apart from the renders – the LG G7 will come with a 6-inch IPS LCD display (which explains the bottom chin). It will be a nearly bezel-less display with a notch. Apparently, to incorporate the notch, the G7 will come with an aspect ratio of 19:9. Although, we can’t verify that information.

And, it will have dimensions of roughly 153.2×71.9×8.2mm. But if you add the camera hump, the thickness goes up to 8.5mm. We have no information about the weight of the phone yet. LG G7 8

As far as the specs are concerned the LG G7 is expected to come with a Snapdragon 845 SoC inside. And it is widely believed that the G7 will come in two variants: 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage. On the rear, the dual rear cameras are supposed to come in a configuration of 16MP+16MP sensors. In this setup, the secondary sensor is most probably going to be a wide angle sensor. Unless, LG has different plans this year. We don’t have any concrete details about the battery size yet, but the phone will almost certainly include wireless charging. LG G7 9
