MediaTek is all set to release some new and major processors this year. Last year, the Helio X30 failed miserably. The Taiwanese company is coming with the Helio P70 soon and the chipset has been leaked, thanks to AnTuTu.
The chipset will compete directly with the Snapdragon 660. Its AnTuTu scores are quite impressive. The processor is going to support the mid-range devices of 2018. Helio P40, another mid-range processor, will also release this year.
Both the chipsets are set to be announced in February. However, the leak has revealed all the major information about the Helio P70. The chipset has scored a massive 156,906 points on AnTuTu database.
This score surpasses the points scored by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660, Helio X30, and Exonys 7872. The processor has scored 73,969 points in CPU. This score is also higher than all the competitors of the Helio P70. The only field where this processor lacked was the GPU score. It managed to score 30,737 points which are lesser than Snapdragon 660.
MediaTek isn’t paying much attention to graphics and we aren’t sure where this would lead them in the future.
All these scores add up to form its total score – 156,906 points. The processor scores higher than the Snapdragon 821 and even the popular, Snapdragon 835.
Helio P70 – specs and features
The Helio P70 is an octa-core processor, built on a 12nm process. The processor has four A73 cores, clocked at 2.5GHz and four A53 cores, clocked at 2.0GHz. The GPU on the processor will be the quad-core Mali-G72, clocked at 800MHz.
These specs and scores look pretty promising. It would be interesting to see the smartphones running on this decently specced processor.
Both the Helium P70 and P40 will be launched in the MWC 2018. Samsung has also released the Exynos 5 series 7872 processor.
