We recently wrote about a teaser posted by Xiaomi on Weibo that reveals the identity of the April 25 product. It is the Mi 6X as most have presumed earlier. However, the company had thereafter posted another teaser that reveals something more than just its name.
I definitely preferred the Mi A1 design over the Redmi Note 4 and this teaser suggests that design language will continue. I mean the border-hugging antenna lines that give a minimalistic clean look to the rear as opposed to the silver linings on the Redmi Note series. What doesn’t change is the camera arrangement as it stays the same as the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
Moreover, the handset seems to have a different Blue shade than the one of the Note 5 Pro launched recently. Another interesting detail the teaser confirms is the camera. The Mi 6X will feature a 20MP primary rear shooter. We presume Xiaomi is talking about both the rear and front shooters. This would definitely be a big step up from last year’s 5MP selfie shooter in the Mi 5X which underperformed its competitors.
As for other specs, the TENAA listing has outed a bunch of them. Expect a similar screen to the Redmi Note 5 Pro, a stellar Snapdragon 660, and at least 4GB of RAM. The Mi 6X will likely have 32GB/64GB/128GB of storage and a comparatively smaller 2910 mAh battery bosting Quick Charge 3.0 and USB Type-C.
Meanwhile, the global variant of the Mi 5X aka the Mi A1 has been discontinued on Indian shelves. This happens mainly when a refresh of the product is expected. Given this, coupled with the Mi 6X release, it seems certain that the Mi A2 will be introduced in India.
