Micromax IN 1 is now official in the country. The company calls it India ka Naya blockbuster (translates to India’s new blockbuster) comes in as the third new smartphone under its comeback ‘IN’ series. The IN 1 shares similarities with its siblings including design elements, cameras, and processors from MediaTek as well. The highlights of the device include a punch-hole display, a bigger battery with fast charging support, expandable storage option, to name a few.
Micromax IN 1 — Tech Specs
The Micromax IN 1 appears to be coming in a sleek body design with a thickness of less than 9mm, according to the company. It carries the ‘X’ pattern design aesthetic like other IN series phones, which further comes in a metallic finish. Micromax says, the IN 1 has an oleophobic coating that should save from fingerprint smudges both on the front and back. The gradient colour options of the device comprise — Purple and Blue.
On the front, the device features a 6.67-inches Full HD+ display with a punch-hole cutout that houses the selfie camera. It has a 20:9 aspect ratio, peak brightness of up to 440 nits, and achieves a screen to body ratio of 91.4%. The company further says that it comes with L1 Widevine support for HD streaming on OTT platforms.
Under the hood
The Micromax IN 1 equips an Helio G80 SoC, which is an octa-core processor built on a 12nm process by MediaTek. It can achieve clock speeds of up to 2.0GHz, and utilizes Mali G52 GPU, for graphics. The IN 1 with this SoC is said to be beating the competition through Antutu scores, as the company claims it has achieved 2,00,000 points in the benchmarks. Micromax has compared the scores with the competition involving Snapdragon 662 SoCs, and Exynos 850. The device equips up to 6GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of onboard storage; along with microSD expansion of up to 256GB.
The device ships with Android 10 out of the box, but the company is promising that Android 11 rollout is on the way, in May 2021, to be precise. Further, Micromax is promising up to two years of guaranteed updates; including monthly security patches.
For photos/videos, the Micromax IN 1 has a triple camera setup on the back; featuring a 48MP f/1.79 Samsung’s sensor. It further companies a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth of field camera. The rear cameras support modes including Advanced Night Mode, AI Scene Recognition, AI Brilliant Portrait mode, and a PRO mode as well. There’s an 8MP front camera for selfie enthusiasts with features embedded like — background blur mode, night mode, for instance.
The Micromax IN 1 equips a decent 5000mAh battery that charges through USB Type-C. It claims to give 18 hours of video streaming, and for charging, it supports 18W fast charging.
The connectivity options of the IN 1 include Carrier Aggregation support, Dual VoWiFI, Dual VoLTE, Dual-Band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0. And, for authentication, the device comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor; supports the Face ID (face unlock) feature too.
Micromax IN 1 — Pricing
The Micromax IN 1 is launched in India at Rs 10,499 for the 4GB+64GB variant, and Rs 11,999 for the 6GB+128GB variant. They will be available for sale on Flipkart from March 26th. Users who are interested in buying on the launch day at 12 PM can get the base variant at an introductory price of Rs 9,999, and the larger 6GB+128GB costs Rs 11,499.
