Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus, Moto G6 Play are finally official

After a series of leaks the new Moto G6 and the Moto E5 series of smartphones have been launched globally. Lenovo-owned Motorola has announced three smartphones in the Moto G6 series: the Moto G6, Moto G6 Play, and Moto G6 Plus. The Moto E5 series also includes three phones namely – the Moto E5, Moto E5 Play and Moto E5 Plus. The details of the E5 series are available in another article. 

These phones now come with a tall 18:9 aspect ratio display. The phones were launched at an event in Brazil. 

Moto G6 Plus: specs and availability

The top-end variant in the series is the Moto G6 Plus. It comes with a large 5.9-inch IPS LCD panel Full-HD panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio display. It comes with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection. The body is made of curved glass on the rear. The phone weighs 167g and has dimensions of 160 x 75.5 x 8.0mm. And unlike the other phones launched by Motorola, the G6 Plus comes with a USB Type-C port at the bottom. The phone comes in two colour variants Deep Indigo and Nimbus. 

The G6 Plus has a Snapdragon 630 SoC with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, further expandable up to 128GB using a microSD card. It runs Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and has face unlock as an additional security feature apart from a fingerprint scanner. You get a 3200mAh battery with the phone, with support for fast charging as well. The phone comes with support for Dolby Atmos audio as well.

As for the camera, you get dual 12MP+5MP rear cameras, with the primary camera aperture of f/1.7. On the front you get an 8MP camera. The Moto G6 Plus is already available in Brazil and is expected to reach Mexico next week. Currently it is priced at 299 euros or approximately Rs 25,000. 

Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play: specs and availability

The differences in Moto G6 are aplenty. You get two variants of the phone – one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of ROM and the other with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage space. The G6 also comes with a SD450 processor. You also get a smaller 3,000mAh battery. It has a smaller 5.7-inch display and comes in four colour options – Deep Indigo, Black, Blush and Silver. The camera setup on the rear is the same. The G6 has the same availability as the G6 Plus and it costs $299 or approx Rs 20,000. 

The G6 Play is suited for better battery life with a 4,000mAh battery but you get much lower specs in the form of a SD427 processor. It also comes with a single 13MP camera on the rear and 5MP camera on the front. Once again, the availability details are the same, and the phone is priced at $199 or Rs 13,000.
