Moto G6 Play and G6 will now support Vodafone’s VoLTE

While most smartphones support Jio’s widespread VoLTE network in India, other telcos are quickly catching up to the newcomer in the industry. Case in point, the Moto G6 Play/G6 do support Jio’s VoLTE out of the box but do not support Vodafone’s newly rolled out VoLTE. However, a new OTA update has just changed that.

If you happen to have the phone and can’t use Vodafone’s new Voice over LTE network, be assured an OTA update in the coming days will fix it. Vodafone’s shift to VoLTE is a work in progress as only top-tier cities like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Goa enjoy these services for now. That is part of the reason why smartphones don’t support their VoLTE network out of the box. In contrast, Jio is solely based on VoLTE and supporting it is vital for devices to work on their network.

Both Vodafone and Airtel are working closely with manufacturers to ensure that there will be rollouts as quickly as possible. Some top smartphones from brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, Apple, Samsung, and Nokia already come with it. The Moto G6 is one of the new ones on the list. Both the handset are elegantly built phones with design cues obviously taken from the recent Moto X4, and hardware from yesteryear like the Snapdragon 450. The Moto G6 Play is priced Rs 11,999, while the Moto G6 is priced Rs 13,999 onwards.
