Nokia has been under the spotlight lately. With rumours circling around the upcoming Nokia 9, it is obvious for the company to keep the ball rolling with new additions to its smartphone range. Today, we’ve heard that the Japanese company is all set to launch a new genre of smartphones and the first phone in this range has been given the name of Nokia 1.
The Nokia 1 will target the budget segment and will launch in the developing markets first. The phone will be a part of the Android Go program and will launch with an affordable price tag. The news has surfaced through a tweet by a Russian Journalist who claims that Nokia is preparing to launch an entry-level smartphone for developing markets and it would be laced with all the crucial features critical for an Android device.
Along with revealing this information, the journalist has also dropped subtle hints about the phone’s specifications. Nokia 1 will have 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The device will include an HD IPS display. Eldar Murtazin has even listed the expected price of the phone as 5,990 Rubbles, which translates to roughly Rs 6,550.
It is worth noting that the HMD Global-owned Nokia is not the only company which is focussing on launching Android Go smartphones. Companies like Huawei are also planning to release mid-range phones in the lower budget section in order to promote the growth and usage of internet in emerging countries.
Android Go devices will also receive the latest Android updates.
