Nokia is currently working with telecom service providers to develop 5G technology, the service providers are state-run BSNL and Bharti Airtel.
Rupa Santosh (Nokia Research and Development head) said, “We are increasing staffing at our R&D centre here in 2018 to focus on next-generation technologies spanning 5G mobile network architecture, Voice over LTE (Long-Term Evolution or a standard for high-speed wireless communication for mobile devices and data terminals), cloud and big data analytics”.
Global telcos are currently developing 5G networks and the estimated time of rolling out the technology is 2020. In order to supersede the 4G technology, they will have to enable data, voice, and video traffic at a much faster speed via bandwidth.
Another statement by Rupa Santosh, “We are already doing collaborate research in 5G mobile network architecture with 14 industrial and academic partners in the European Union”.
Nokia is working with BSNL and Bharti Airtel to help them fasten the 5G development process. Priyank Kharge (Karnataka IT Minister) disclosed the new Research and Development facility at an annual event. Nokia exhibited its latest and fastest technologies, its partners, customers, and start-ups.
Rupa Santosh added, “The Bengaluru research centre will also allow Indian and global service providers to leverage our technology and develop capabilities for next-technologies”.
