While there’s still no launch dates for the China-exiled Nokia X6, we now have an official launch date for its smaller notch-toting brother, the Nokia X5. Nokia put up a teaser on its social media channel on Weibo this weekend stating the handset launches on July 11 at 8 PM in China. And yes, this too will end up being a China-first handset and you’ll be able to watch the live stream.
The Nokia X5 aka the Nokia 5.1 Plus has been in the news for a while. It has a 5.86-inch HD+ TFT display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The processor isn’t nailed yet, but it should be a decent mid-range from Qualcomm or MediaTek. As many as three RAM variants have been rumoured – 3GB/4GB/6GB and two storage options 32GB/64GB will be sold.
The Nokia X5 will also feature a dual camera setup like its bigger brother with a 13MP primary sensor. The selfie sensor will be an 8MP shooter as per leaks. The handset is supposed to run on a 3,000mAh battery.
Previously, a poster of the Nokia X5 was spotted on search engine Baidu that also signaled the impending launch of the phone. The handset having also passed TENAA is now on a standby for an official reveal. As for pricing, we have some pointers. Expect the 32GB variant to drop with a CNY 799 (roughly Rs. 8,300) price tag and the 64GB model with a CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 10,400) price.
