Nubia’s Red Magic brand tasked to create its first gaming smartphone has debuted the handset yesterday. Suffice to say, the new Nubia sub-brand brought its A-game to the table with the device dubbed Red Devil.
In terms of looks, the Red Devil manages to stand out of the crowd of smartphones and even the few gaming handsets around. Since it is named Red Devil, it does come in Red and you’ll be in awe of the device once you look at it. At least I was. The rear of the phone has a unique long vertically-placed coloured LED in the center. Along with the hexagonal cutouts for the fingerprint and camera and the vents, the handset has that unmistakable gaming device look. There’s also a customizable physical button to kick-in gaming mode alongside the power button.
However, specs are not as cutting-edge as the looks. The Nubia Red Devil sports a 6.0-inch Full-HD+ display with a standard 60Hz refresh rate. It has a NEG Dinorex T2X-1 glass protection. Instead of the Snapdragon 845, buyers will get the Snapdragon 835. There is a 6GB model as well as an 8GB model as well.
The rear camera is a single 24MP shooter with f/1.7 aperture while the front has a modest 8MP shooter. The battery is a sizable 3,800mAh juicer that does also have fast charging. The handset has the latest Android 8.1 Oreo and a new Red Magic UI layer on top of it.
The Red Devil will be listed on IndieGogo from April 26 for early backers at a price of $399. Pre-orders in China begin a day before. The 6GB + 64GB model costs CNY 2,499 (approximately Rs 26,300). The 8GB RAM + 128GB version costs CNY 2,999 (approximately Rs 31,500).
