Up to three years of Software maintenance covered for OnePlus 3/3T, 5/5T, and 6 in its new policy

OnePlus has formally introduced a new maintenance policy to commit its users of the software upgrades over the period of up to three years. The Chinese smartphone brand which has already got a good reputation amongst other OEMs in the industry in terms of maintenance. The company has now made it formal starting now.

What does OnePlus software maintenance policy mean?

It means that OnePlus users including the 3/3T, 5/T, and 6 would be getting regular software updates. All the OnePlus smartphones mentioned above would be getting the software upgrades for the two years from the release date of the device.

Apart from these regular software upgrades, the handsets would be getting Android security patch update. These updates are extended for a year after the two year period. The interval for these patches would be every two months.  

OnePlus specifically stated that the OP3 and OP3T would be getting the last open Beta later in the first week of the July. As per this maintenance schedule, these old OnePlus phones shall be receiving the updates till November 2018. And 1 year of additional Android security updates.

For users considering to buy a OnePlus 6, this would be an interesting thing to consider. As not many OEMs except Google offers such level of commitment. What do you think of this? Drop us a line in the comments section below.
