OnePlus is finally giving a great Christmas present to the OnePlus 5 users! The popular Face ID feature is now coming to the OnePlus 5 and that marks a substantial addition to the phone. The company released the OnePlus 5T last month with a Face Unlock feature intended to compete with Apple and let’s be practical, the feature works quite nicely!
The good news was announced by Carl Pei, the co-founder of OnePlus as he took to Twitter to surprise the OP5 users. The fans were elated and some even took the liberty of asking Pei to roll out the advanced feature for the older devices like the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.
Doing so is not a herculean task for the Chinese company since they just need to roll out some software updates. In Apple devices, it is a longer and more complex process with sensors for face mapping etc. Of course, Apple’s Face Id is more secure and efficient while OnePlus revels in the fact that its Facial Recognition is simpler and faster.
The OnePlus 5 was recently graced with a stable Android 8.0 Oreo update after a few beta builds, with features like Picture-in-Picture mode, Auto-fill etc! The company is focussing a lot on making its devices as premium as possible with such features and it seems to be working out well for them
The OnePlus 5 is a device laced with dual rear cameras with a combination of 16 MP+ 20 MP sensors and a selfie camera of 16 MP. The device has a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and a 3,300mAh battery! It is also graced with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM along with the latest Oxygen OS 5.0!
