OnePlus 5 gets ‘face unlock’ with OxygenOS beta update

The face unlock is the main feature of the OnePlus 5T. The users of OnePlus 5 are in for a treat because the new OxygenOS beta release has brought in the face unlock feature to the smartphone. 

The OxygenOS beta update also includes fixes for 5G Wi-Fi connection issue, security patch, and bug fixes.

Carl Pei, the co-founder of OnePlus had already mentioned in December 2017 that the company will bring in the face unlock to the OnePlus 5 flagship. Read to know more. 

The press release stated, “As promised, owners of the original OnePlus 5 can now unlock their phones via facial recognition with the new OxygenOS Open Beta 3 based on Android Oreo”.

The OnePlus 5 has a dual rear camera setup with a combination of 16MP + 20MP sensors and a front camera of 16MP. The device has a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920p. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and a 3,300mAh battery. The device has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The fingerprint scanner is doubled up as a home button and unlocks the phone within 0.2 seconds.
