The last thing you’d expect from a smartphone brand that has a slogan ‘Never Settle’, is to put a notch on its smartphone. But, it seems that OnePlus is heading down that road. The first hints of the notch came with leaked images of a real OnePlus 6 last week. Since then, many OnePlus fans have been concerned with the development. Although this was just a leak, the prototype clearly had a notch on the top of the display, albeit a smaller one.
Today, some screenshots of the OnePlus 6 have appeared online that once again confirm the same thing. The screenshot was shared by Android Central, who say that it is from a source close to OnePlus. Although the screenshot shows an AnTuTu benchmark score, our primary concern is the top status bar. Taking a close look at it reveals it is taller in the middle as well as blank.
Why, oh why would you include a notch OnePlus?
The thing that gives it away is the clock moved to the left side. All other icons are placed on the right. This is an ominous sign that the OnePlus 6, featured in the screenshot, has a notch. Also, it wouldn’t be the standard 18:9 aspect ratio. Instead, it would be 19:9 because of the notch.
As for the benchmarks, the OnePlus 6 with model number A6000 has some record-breaking scores. With a staggering score of 276510, it is obvious that the processor is the flagship Snapdragon 845.
The OnePlus 5 launched in July, hence we should expect its successor in June as well. But going by these new leaks, we might just see an early launch. This would be to accommodate a OnePlus 6T launch by the end of 2018.
We’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this new rumoured design. Would you buy a OnePlus 6 with a notch? Let us know in the sections below.
