OnePlus 6 has been leaked multiple times and there is very little that we do not know about the phone. Let’s look at the all the leaks and rumours around the OnePlus 6:
Update (10/5/18): OnePlus 6 specs released by Chinese IT Ministry
OnePlus 6 has now been leaked by the IT Ministry of China. The website has given some important specs of the device. The phone is all set to launch on May 17 and it is quite interesting to see the ministry releasing such a crucial information publically.
The OnePlus A6000 (aka OnePlus 6) has a 6.28-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280p. This means that the display has an aspect ratio of 19:9, thanks to the notch which further helps in increasing the screen-to-body ratio. The phone has been mentioned to run on a 2.4GHz processor, which is the Snapdragon 845. The website shows the 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM variant of the phone and we’d get to know more about the 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM Avengers Infinity War special edition later on.
The device has a 3300mAh battery, just like its predecessor and comes with a 16MP + 20MP rear camera setup. The selfie snapper will have a 16MP sensor for impressive shots. The price and other features of the phone will be revealed at the time of its launch if a new leak doesn’t surface.
Update (8/5/18): OnePlus 6 design accidentally leaked by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan
With just days left for the event, we have our first real glimpse at the design of the OnePlus 6. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, accidentally tweeted a picture of the new phone. The tweet has been deleted at the time of reporting this story. For what it is worth, we can clearly see a curved glass back which reminds us of the first Xiaomi Mi Note phone. There are dual rear cameras and a fingerprint scanner placed below it.
Update (7/5/18): OnePlus 6 rear panel leaked through the protective case
OnePlus 6 has been leaked a million times in the past one month and before its launch on May 16, here’s another design leak of the phone. Protective skin cases for the OnePlus 6 have surfaced and revealed some important details about the phone’s design. Like we expect, the phone will have a vertical dual rear camera setup coupled with an LED Flash. A fingerprint sensor will also be placed beneath the camera setup.
Additionally, the volume rockers and power button will sit on the right side of the display. A USB Type-C connector and 3.5mm headphone jack will be placed on the bottom of the device. Though the protective skin case doesn’t reveal it, we know that the phone will feature an iPhone X-like notch on front. Additionally, the back panel is rumoured to be made of glass in order to support wireless charging.
Update (4/5/18): OnePlus 6 leaks on TENAA listing
OnePlus 6 is coming on May 17 in India. The phone has already been all over the internet for some time now. The device has now leaked on TENAA listing and we have come to know many of its specs. For starters, the OnePlus 6 will have a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280p. This means that the aspect ratio of the display will be 19:9 and we can expect it to have minimum bezels on all sides. It has been listed to weigh 179g with the dimensions of 155.7 x 75.35 x 7.75mm.
The model number given to the phone is OnePlus A6000 and it has been shown to derive its power from a 2.45GHz octa-core processor, which is the Snapdragon 845 SoC. Along with this, 6GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM have been mentioned. The listing may add 8GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM later on, as the 6GB RAM variant of the phone is likely to come with 128GB of ROM.
The camera specs of the phone are exactly as we expected. It will come with a dual rear camera setup with 20MP + 16MP sensor and a 16MP selfie snapper. The battery capacity of the phone has been listed to be 3300mAh and it comes with Android 8.1 Oreo on-board.
Update 2 (03/5/18): OnePlus 6 Avengers Infinity War edition to have a Kevlar-infused logo
A new leak around the much-awaited OnePlus 6 has arrived today. The exclusive information has been disclosed by India Today and it reveals the retail box of the Avenger Infinity War edition of the OnePlus 6. The special edition is likely to launch with the original model as well. It will have 8GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM, as far as leaks have confirmed.
The retail box picture shared by the source shows Kevlar finish on the box. The special Kevlar chequered finish could also be included at the back panel of the OnePlus 6. A special Star Wars edition of OnePlus 5T also had a differently textured panel and the upcoming flagship by OnePlus could also be special.
The company used to give out Kevlar finished cases with its older flagships and if they’re making a comeback, it is a great news indeed. The special edition of OnePlus 6 could also arrive with special goodies in the box.
Update (03/5/18): HDFC Smartbuy gets OnePlus 6 completely wrong with impossible specs
HDFC Smartbuy tried to put something glorious today. The page has listed OnePlus 6 with an image and instead of going viral for the right reasons, it has completely messed the specs sheet of the phone. It looks like they have taken their information from My Smart Price and have gone outrageously wrong with everything.
For starters, the phone has been shown with a massive notch. It looks as massive as the one on the iPhone X and those who already hate it will now feel even more cheated by OnePlus. The “key features” mentioned just beside the picture are the stuff nightmares are made of. HDFC has mentioned “GSM phone” in the world of 4G VoLTE. They have also listed the specs of the phone below the image and one good look will tell you all that is wrong in the list.
The display size of the phone has been mentioned to be 5.7-inch which is even smaller than the OnePlus 5T. Can OnePlus really make a phone that small? No, not at all. Then as you proceed, the resolution of the display makes you appalled as it is mentioned to be 1800 x 3200p. The resolution paves the way to a 16:9 display and as far as we remember, a bezel-less display cannot have this aspect ratio.
They have shown a nearly bezel-less device with a massive notch which increases the screen-to-body ratio even more and have mentioned it to be 16:9 aspect ratio panel. Additionally, we know that the phone will host a fingerprint sensor on its back but the listing shows an in-display fingerprint sensor. The list also suggests the software to be Android 8.0 Oreo but when the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T run Android 8.1 Oreo, it is quite impossible for the OnePlus 6 will run a lower version.
Not only this, the page has listed dual front cameras with 16MP + 16MP sensors. The back camera on the OnePlus 6 is listed to be a single 23MP shooter and we do not know what went so wrong that HDFC Smartbuy had to make such mistakes. The specs sheet and the image are not credible at all, as you can see. The phone has been mentioned to support only Dash Charge and not wireless charging. It is common knowledge that OnePlus 6 is bound to support wireless charging, for it will have a glass back.
The RAM and the ROM configuration is also wrong as the phone will have an 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM variant and not the 8GB RAM + 128GB ROM variant as mentioned on the page. Seriously HDFC, what were you thinking?
Update 2 (02/5/18): Live hands-on images of the OnePlus 6 have leaked side-by-side to the OnePlus 5T
According to the source of these images, they appeared first on Baidu. Unfortunately, the quality of the images is not ideal and leaves a lot to be desired. However, we presume the pixels might have been lost in transition.
There isn’t anything new to learn from these images however we do have a real perspective of the edges on all four sides of the screen. Also, we’re not shown the back of the device which is a bummer really.

Update (30/4/18): Vogue India shoots a video with OnePlus 6
OnePlus 6’s camera prowess was shown to us when the company released some official daylight shots recently. However, we didn’t know anything about its video shooting skills. Vogue India has heard our silent wishes and has come up with a video featuring Aditi Rao Hydari, a talented Indian actress. The special thing about this video is that it has been shot on OnePlus 6, as said by the magazine’s tweet. Watch the video here. The colours in the video look pleasing and we do get a sneak peek into the phone’s portrait mode shots.
Well, we can hope for a great device to drop by soon after watching the video. What do you think?
Update (30/4/18): OnePlus 6 price leaked ahead of the launch
OnePlus 6 was rumoured to be priced higher than the other flagships by the company. The website which covered this leak first has mentioned that the source of this information is credible, for it revealed the exact pricing of the OnePlus 5T last year. The OnePlus 6 is likely to be priced at Rs 36,999 for the 64GB ROM variant and Rs 39,999 for the 128GB variant. The price of the 256GB variant has not been revealed but it is likely to launch alongside these two variants as well.
The phone is slightly more expensive than its predecessor. The OnePlus 5T was priced at Rs 32,999 for the 64GB variant and 37,999 for the 128GB variant. The increased price can be attributed to a more expensive Snapdragon 845 processor and glass rear panel. Whatever may be the case, we don’t want OnePlus to keep increasing the cost of its devices exponentially. Do we?
Update (25/4/18): OnePlus 6 to launch on May 17 in India
Good news for the Indian fans of OnePlus. The company will launch the phone on May 17 in India as well. Update (25/4/18): OnePlus 6 launch date confirmed for China
OnePlus has finally confirmed the launch date for the OnePlus 6. The phone is all set to launch on May 17 in its home country and the confirmation puts all the other speculations to rest. OnePlus took to Weibo to confirm this date. The company has also nullified a previous leak by Money Control which stated that the phone will arrive in India on May 18. With such developments, it is difficult to speculate the launch date of the phone in India.
Also, the company will start selling tickets for the China event from April 27 onwards. If you’re a OnePlus fan, this is your time to shine and watch the phone release live.
Update (21/4/18): OnePlus 6 registration page goes live tonight on Amazon India and it will come with a glass back
We’re still not sure about an official launch date of the OnePlus 6. But here/s something that hints the phone’s launch is very very close. E-commerce biggie Amazon India announced today that the OnePlus 6 registration page will go live on April 22 at 12am. Users can register to get notified about the latest updates regarding the smartphone by hitting the ‘Notify Me’ button. Moreover, the handset will be exclusive to Amazon India. A recent report by Money control did say that the launch of the phone is on March 18. However, that has now turned out to be not the case as a OnePlus representative said: “There has been no formal communication” on the matter.
Regardless, the relatively new brand still continues to tease marquee features of the handset on social media. Many aspects of the handset are a foregone conclusion such as water resistance, the Snapdragon 845, the notch, and the 3.5mm headphone jack. Nothing concrete can be said about the pricing but recent reports peg the handset to be costlier than the OnePlus 5T. With Amazon now putting up a registration page online tonight, we’re pretty sure the handset will get a launch ahead of May.
Furthermore, a tweet by the official OnePlus account states that the phone will indeed come with a glass back. This also raises speculation about the fact that there might be support for wireless charging.
Update (20/4/18): OnePlus 6 might launch on May 18 in India and it could be priced at Rs 39,999
Looks like leaks and rumours of the OnePlus 6 cannot and will not be plugged. A new exclusive story by MoneyControl states that the OnePlus 6 will launch on May 18. That’s not it though, the MoneyControl story also states that the OnePlus 6 will be priced at Rs 39,999. But we don’t know if it is the price for the base variant or the top end one. We are taking this with a pinch of salt for now.
Update (19/4/18): OnePlus 6 is confirmed to come in a Avengers: Infinity War edition
This one is not a leak. OnePlus sent out an official e-mail on Monday morning stating that the Avengers: Infinity War edition OnePlus 6 is definitely launching. However, more details of this phone are not available as of now. The mail read:
“We at OnePlus, the premium Android smartphone maker are partnering with Marvel Studios to celebrate its 10th anniversary with Avengers: Infinity War, which arrives in theatres on April 27, 2018.
The collaboration marks a step towards strengthening our association with Disney India. In December 2017, OnePlus and Disney partnered to launch OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition, which was well received by fans across both communities.”
There is no photo of the phone either. We can’t wait to check out what it looks like. If the Star Wars edition of the OnePlus 5T is any indication, this versions should look kickass too.
Update (17/4/18): OnePlus 6 camera samples and water resistance
OnePlus has tweeted about the water resistance of the upcoming OnePlus 6. However, nothing specific has been disclosed. The company just tweeted “Don’t you just hate it when you have to stop using your phone when it rains? So do we ;).” Now, you can expect the device to be at least IP67 certified. With so many official teasers and announcements knocking our doors, we are expecting the device to launch soon.
In another news, Pete Lau, the CEO of OnePlus has posted the official camera samples on Weibo. All the samples have been taken in broad daylight so it is impossible to comment on the phone’s low-light photography skills. Hence, EXIF, XMP, and other metadata information could not be obtained either. The shots have captured the University of Stanford and a few flowers. Is OnePlus trying to give away as less information as it can while keeping consumer attention at peek?
Update (13/4/18): OnePlus 6 leaked case renders
OnePlus 6 case renders have been leaked to show its design. The leak has surfaced through the listings of a website called Mobile Fun. The website also shows some accessories by the in-house brand Olixar. You can now pre-order gel back panel case, the Sentinel protective case (with compatible screen protector), a Leather-style case with card slots, and a rugged ExoShield case with non-slip coating. Along with this, you can also find accessories like charging docks, car chargers, charging adapters, car holders, compatible USB Type-C cables, compatible headphones, and certain other Bluetooth devices.
The case renders have revealed an iPhone X-like notch which has already raised too many questions. Apart from this, we can see a dual rear camera setup with a fingerprint sensor below it. The red coloured Alert Slider has also been moved to the right side of the phone. The phone was teased to show a glass panel and we are certain that it will support wireless charging.
Update (9/4/18): OnePlus 6 renders reveal three new colours
New renders have appeared on Weibo and they have shown three colour variants of the phone. The phone can be released in White, Blue and Black colours. Apart from these normal shades, the phone will have has a distinguished alert slider in the shade of red. The recent teaser on Twitter also explained how this alert slider would have dual functionality. The slider will allow a user to adjust the camera focus. The renders also revealed a notch on the top of this device.
The bezels on the phone are almost absent and we can clearly see a vertical dual camera setup on the back. The phone will also have a 3.5mm headphone jack and we can’t thank OnePlus enough for this. There is also a fingerprint sensor placed on the premium-looking glass panel on the back.
Update (6/4/18): official teaser reveals gesture controls
OnePlus is doing all that it can to gain maximum eyeballs for the upcoming OnePlus 6. The phone has now been revealed to have advanced gesture controls, thanks to the new teaser released on Twitter. The gesture controls made an appearance through the Android Oreo Beta update to the OnePlus 5T. The OnePlus 6 is likely to carry an advanced version of these controls.
The teaser is again a short one with a message “Speed up your experience with gestures”. Several swipe actions have also been hinted upon in this video. However, we do not know the specifics of the gesture controls. If we are to go by the updates that the OnePlus 5T has received in the past, we can safely assume the presence of three iPhone X-like controls on the OnePlus 6. You can watch the teaser here.
Apart from this, another official teaser has also shed light on an upgraded Alert Slider on the OnePlus 6. The teaser simply says, “Slide to focus with the Alert Slider”. This means that you can now use the slider to adjust the focus on the camera. You can even slide the button to adjust the focus while taking a picture. Watch this teaser here.
Update (3/4/18): official teaser released
Good news for the fans. The company has released a short teaser of the phone. The four-second video is not much detailed but hey, we now know that the phone will be called OnePlus 6 only. Apart from this, the teaser includes a slogan which says “The Speed You Need”. Is it because the company will include the latest Snapdragon 845 in the package? Watch the official teaser here.
This teaser has somewhat fueled the expectations of users now. Since the company has started marketing, it is quite possible that the phone is launching soon. What do you think?
Update (3/4/18): specs revealed through Wi-Fi certification
A Wi-Fi certification of the phone has also been spotted on the internet. Rolan Quandt, a popular tipster is the one to have brought the news into the light. The listing is dated April 2 and reveals quite a many important things about the phone. For instance, the phone will run Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box. It will have Wi-Fi 802.11ac and get WCN3990 Wi-Fi modem. All this information confirms the presence of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 on the phone.
OnePlus 6: rumoured design
In the past two years, OnePlus flagships have resembled their Oppo counterparts in a striking manner. I’m afraid if that’s true this year, we’ll be seeing a notch on the OnePlus 6. Oppo recently outed teasers for its premium R15 phones and the teaser clearly showed a notch on the handset. If the OnePlus 5T resembled the Oppo R11s then the OnePlus 6 is likely to resemble the R15. Both the companies come under the wing of BBK Electronics. But OnePlus is also a subsidiary of Oppo at least technically. So, if you’re a notch hater, then say your prayers and prepare for the worse. If you like it, then the odds aren’t against you.
Supplementing our claims is the recent image of a live OnePlus 6 that leaked merely days back. The image claimed to be of a OnePlus 6 prototype showed off a notch on the front and thin bezels at the bottom pretty much what we saw in the Oppo R15 teaser. The rear, however, is much different than last year. It is made of glass to facilitate wireless charging. All the other flagships by the company featured a metallic rear panel. It now features dual cameras vertically stacked in the centre. Beneath that is a fingerprint reader in a rectangular shape that fits well with the symmetry of the square OnePlus logo.
The handset is displayed running Android 8.1 Oreo with Oxygen OS 5.1. It has 64GB of onboard storage. If this is a legitimate picture than we’re not impressed. Many phone makers have this year opted for a notch design on Android phones when even the 18:9 aspect ratio hasn’t found proper software integration. This would deteriorate UX for users even further. We can bet that the OnePlus 6 will come with improved face recognition if the design resemblance is any indication.
