The OnePlus 8 series has reached to some users across the globe. The features and pricing of these phones have definitely taken the internet by storm. Not just that, now some of those users have started pointing out serious issues. OnePlus has put some serious attention to perfecting the displays. But users have reported the problems of ‘Green Tint’ and ‘Black Crush’ on the display of OnePlus 8 Pro.
Update (May 8, 2018): Here’s the Official Statement from OnePlus regarding this OnePlus 8 Pro display issue.
‘We are looking into the ‘black crush’ issue which we aim to address in the upcoming OxygenOS update. Please stay tuned for more information.’
OnePlus 8 Pro – Green Tint and Black Crush
As the phones have started to ship in some countries, the early users have reported these issues at low brightness levels. A user has shared a comparison of OnePlus 8 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S20 to highlight these issues. This post on OnePlus Community forum suggests how these issues are cropping up at 120Hz refresh rate setting and low brightness.
The problem of Green Tint can be fixed by switching off DC Dimming. But that leads to ‘black crush’ on the display i.e. grainy frames while displaying dark hues. OnePlus has decided to revolve these issues as soon as possible. As per a report by Android Authority, the company will “issue an update as soon as they are ready.”
The OnePlus 8 Pro was launched at a starting price of Rs.54,999. It runs on the latest SD865 5G processor. You get a 6.67-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. There’s a 48MP Quad Rear Camera and a 16MP Selfie Camera. The 4500mAh battery of the OnePlus 8 Pro can be charged with the supplied 30W Warp Charger. It also comes with support for 30W Wireless Charging.
