OnePlus today launched the OnePlus 7T, the successor to the OnePlus 7. Now, while it did garner a lot of attention, the highlight of the show was clearly the OnePlus TV. We’ve heard so many leaks and stories about the TVs, but we finally got to see it in action. The OnePlus TV comes in two models, the Q1 and the Q1 Pro. Both the TVs are 55-inches and have ever so slight features separating them. Let’s see what the new QLED TVs from OnePlus are all about.
OnePlus TV Q1 Pro and Q1 features
Both the OnePlus TV Q1 Pro and the Q1 feature a 55-inch QLED 4K UHD panel. The OnePlus 55 Q1 Pro has by far the highest color gamut at NTSC 120%. It also features the Gamma Color Magic which brings the highest level of performance with MEMC and De-Contour. OnePlus has also partnered with Dolby to bring features like Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for video and audio respectively. Both the features go hand-in-hand to offer the best-in-class theatre-like experience thanks to great contrast and a dynamic sound system.
One thing that differentiates the Q1 Pro from the Q1 is the sound setup. So, while the OnePlus TV Q1 features a 30W 2.1 speaker setup, the Q1 Pro takes it a step further. The OnePlus TV 55 Q1 Pro features a 3-way digital crossover, 6-channel amplification, and an integrated 2.1 audio channel configuration. All this inside a 50W output package. Not only that, the speaker setup is inside a sliding soundbar that will slide down every time you turn on the TV.
The TV itself is built with the top-most quality. It features a bezel-less design with a Carbon Fiber pattern finish on the back and a Horizon Light at the bottom. Should you choose to not mount it, the TV also comes with the OnePlus Dock. It is made out of glass and gives the impression of the TV to appear as if it is floating from a distance thanks to the dock’s translucent look.
The OnePlus TV runs a clean version of Android TV and offers great features like the Google Assistant, Built-in Chromecast, Play Store and YouTube. That said, to make the experience further refined for the user, it comes with the OxygenPlay app as well. OnePlus has worked with local content providers including YouTube, Prime Video, Eros Now, Hungama, Jio Cinema, Zee 5. This allows them to seamlessly browse through the content across these platforms without the need for switching apps.
OnePlus has also worked on a clean remote for the TV. It features a simple and minimalist design with fewer buttons to guarantee simple user experience. Unlike traditional remotes, the OnePlus TV Remote comes fitted with rechargeable Li-ion batteries. That said, you can even pair up your smartphone to use with the OnePlus TV. Using your smartphone with the OnePlus Connect App, you can search for content, switch between apps, share your mobile’s WiFi, capture a screenshot, and even use the phone as a trackpad to maneuver inside the TV.
