Despite the OPPO F7 being less than a five months old, OPPO has already teased the arrival of its successor on Twitter. The Chinese handset maker teased the arrival of the OPPO F9 Pro on its official India account today. This official teaser has dropped just after a leaked teaser of the OPPO F9 was reported at the weekend. This all but confirms the arrival of the phone albeit there are still no launch dates.

OPPO is apparently aligning the F9 Pro in India with the OPPO R17 in China just like it did with the OPPO F7 and R15 some months back. And this is understandable, as the two handsets share quite a few similarities. Deducing from this, we could say the OPPO R17 and the F9 will also share some good traits. Speaking of which, the OPPO F9 was detected at Bluetooth SIG certification website and there are three models.
The three model numbers are CPH1823, CPH1825, and CPH1881, the foremost one of which is expected to be the F9 Pro. The last two are likely variants of the F9. There’s one particular thing the teaser suggests, and that’s a new notch design very much like the Essential Phone but shrunk even more than it. This would be interesting to see even though we’re no fan of such notches.
At present, there are no leaked images of the OPPO F9 and no launch dates. But we think an August launch is plausible, as suggested by the leaked teaser. There are lots of blanks in the OPPO F9 right now. We don’t know much of the internal qualities and components, nor much regarding its design. However, the OPPO R17 that recently passed TENAA shows a similar dual camera setup to the leaked teaser. Not only does the R17 do away with the fingerprint reader, it is also rumoured to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 CPU. We expect the dust surrounding the OPPO F9 to settle as soon as we enter August. Stay tuned for more info.
