OPPO R17 Pro

While OPPO launched two R series phones yesterday, the R17 and R17 Pro, it is the latter that we had our eyes on for most of the time. Speculation was rampant about a triple camera setup on the device and it turned out to be true. However, there was a pleasant surprise which we didn’t expect and we’ll tell you about it at the end of the article.

OPPO R17 Pro Specs

The OPPO R17 Pro is the first OPPO device flaunting a trio of cameras on the rear. However, that’s just one highlight. The design of the phone has undergone a slight change on the front and it now showcases a condensed notch that we’re likely to see a lot more going forward in 2018.

The premium metal body of the R17 Pro holds a 6.4-inch AMOLED Full-HD+ display with a 91.5 percent aspect ratio. It’s got Corning’s latest Gorilla Glass 6 too The other fantastic addition is the inclusion of the Snapdragon 710 SoC as the core of the device. It has an 8GB RAM module and a 128GB of native storage.

Here’s the interesting part. The rear camera setup comprises a 12MP sensor with f/1.5-2.4 aperture, a 20MP sensor with f/2.6 aperture, and a TOF 3D stereo camera. Oppo says this sensor will help in 3D photo capturing without revealing its megapixel count. The front selfie shooter is the usual 25MP sensor we’re seen earlier on premium Oppo phones.

The dual-SIM device holds an in-display fingerprint scanner that is believed to be an upgraded version and works faster than previous ones on the market. That’s another main attraction of the R17 Pro.

The big surprise is the Super VOOC Charge OPPO has thrown in with the handset. If you haven’t heard about it, Super VOOC kicks every other fast charging on the market. It goes from 0 to 40 percent in 10 minutes. Speaking of which, the R17 Pro’s juice life juice comes from a very decent sized 3,700mAh battery. It has 4G VoLTE, USB Type-C, NFC, and Android 8.1 Oreo coloured by ColorOS 5.2.

Now for the price. The OPPO R17 Pro will retail for CNY 4,299 (roughly Rs. 43,800). The biggest dampener for all this is that we might never see this device in the Indian market. However, OPPO might introduce a new smartphone that has been spotted with Super VOOC in China. So, let’s not lose hope.
