Xiaomi has finally unveiled the successor of Redmi Note 4 in China. The Redmi 5 and 5 Plus have been launched in a special event today and we just can’t wait for them to arrive in India. The phones are all the more special because despite being budget devices, they have the trending 18:9 aspect ratio! Yes, you got it right. These phones are bezel-less and quite frankly, we believe that they are going to take over their predecessor in terms of sale in India. Let’s dig deeper into both of these amazing phones!
Redmi 5 – Specs, Price, and Availability
The Redmi 5 Plus Redmi 5 has a 5.7″ screen with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone has two variants with a combination of 2 GB RAM+16 GB ROM and 3 GB RAM+32 GB ROM. The device boasts of a 3,300mAh battery as well.
It runs Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top. It will also have a 12MP camera on the back and 5MP camera sensor on the front. In terms of performance, Redmi 5 is going to be a winner since it is powered by the Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor built on a 14nm process with Adreno 506 GPU.
The Redmi 5 is priced at 799 yuan for 2GB variant, 899 yuan for 3GB variant, and comes in Black, Blue, and Pink colors. It will go on sale from December 9 as is expected.

Redmi 5 Plus – specs, price, and availability
Redmi 5 Plus is another treat for Xiaomi fans as this device is everything that a person can wish for. This phone has a 5.99″ display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor which supports 4K video recording and has two variants as well. The combination of the first variant is 3 GB RAM+32 GB ROM and 4 GB+64GB on the second. This phone also has a camera setup of 12MP rear+5MP front snapper. The Redmi 5 Plus runs Android 7.1 Nougat with MIUI 9 on top as well!
The phone will have Black and Gold colors. The 5 Plus is priced at 999 yuan for 3GB variant and 1299 yuan for the 4GB variant (approx) and will go on sale from December 12 as well.
