The recent new kid on the block, the Xiaomi Redmi S2 has just received a nod from 3C, China. This certification comes after the handset passed TENAA recently on its journey to an inevitable release. What is not surely known is whether this smartphone falls in Xiaomi’s product strategy.
With the current info we have, it looks like a close relative of the Mi 6X especially in terms of looks. This has lead to suggestions that it might be a low-end variant of the Mi 6X. Moreover, we might end up seeing a different official moniker on what we currently know as the Redmi S2. However, neither the launch date nor any official confirmation is available right now.
As for the 3C certification, it usually doesn’t reveal much essential stuff but it confirms the existence of a handset. We already know a lot about the Redmi S2 anyway.
TENAA listed the handset with features such as a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The processor is expected to be a Snapdragon 625 SoC. Plenty of options exist in terms of RAM and storage, as revealed by firmware files. Right from 2GB to 4GB and 16GB of storage to 64GB have been mentioned. The handset won’t have any shortage of new paint as it is believed to come in nine colours.
In terms of photography, the handset could end up with a 12MP + 5MP rear combo and a 5MP selfie shooter on the front. Wrapping up the spec sheet is the 3000mAh battery that will likely fuel Android Oreo flavoured by MIUI.
