Various reports and leaks have been hinting at the arrival of a new Redmi device. The alleged Redmi S2 has been speculated to be a budget offering with Android One branding. Today, Xiaomi has posted a teaser on Weibo which allegedly pertains to this device. The company has posted an image on Weibo with an “S” written on it.
Speculations are live and many people believe it to be a hint to the arrival of this phone. Other speculations have claimed that this teaser is for the upcoming Xiaomi Surge S2 processor. While the latter seems too unlikely as of now, the former looks quite possible. The Redmi S2 has been spotted on various websites in the past few weeks and we’re almost certain that the company is working on it.

In another piece of news, the Redmi S2 has been spotted on official Mi Store listing. A few days ago, we saw the HD images of the phone’s back panel. Today, the Redmi S2 has been spotted in all its glory with its specs. The phone has been mentioned to carry a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1440p. It has visible bezels but we cannot really complain as it fulfils the 18:9 aspect ratio display trend. The phone is shown to be powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor with 2GB/3GB/4GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB/64GB of ROM.
The camera setup on the Redmi S2 is also likely to be a good one with 12MP + 5MP sensor on the back. The dual camera setup will help you in taking elegant bokeh shots. The selfie snapper will have a 16MP sensor and the device will have 3080mAh of battery juice. Finally, the phone will come with Android Oreo pre-installed with MiUI 9.5 on top. The phone is an Android One phone, as XDA Developers revealed and is likely to support an iPhone X-like gesture navigation.
