A new Xiaomi model with the product number M1803E6E has hit TENAA over the weekend. While no names were mentioned by TENAA, XDA stated that it is likely the Redmi S2. According to the publication, firmware files obtained by them also contained the same internal codename. If this is true, then the Redmi S2 will likely launch in the coming weeks.
Moreover, the TENAA listing arrives with some tidbits of info not known before. The Redmi S2 listed with model number M1803E6E is a handset resembling the Mi 6X in ways more than one. For one, the design is the same with a slight change in the antenna lines. The Chinese regulator described the handset to be a 5.99-inch handset with HD+ resolution. Its dimensions were declared as 160.73 x 77.26 x 8.1mm and the weight is 170g. The handset will have as many as nine colours ranging from Black, Blue, Gold, Gray, Pink, Red, Rose Gold, Silver and White.
The processor still manages to escape the piercing eyes of TENAA but it is an octa-core 2GHz processor. This leads us to deduce the handset could be a Snapdragon 625 or 630 chipset. From the XDA findings, one already knows the Redmi S2 will have Android 8.1 Oreo. The 3000mAh battery is very close to the Mi 6X and so are the 12MP + 8MP shooters on the back. The selfie-taking camera is pegged to be of 16MP capacity.
Mostly everything about the forthcoming device is now known including its variant. Expect models from 2GB all the way up to 6GB and 16GB to 64GB of storage with expandability options as well.
