Oppo is all set to announce the Oppo R11-S on November 2nd. It will initially go on sale in China and eventually make its way to other markets. Today, a whole set of press renders showing the Oppo R11-S from almost all the angles has popped up on Weibo.
We have been hearing quite a lot about the R11-S in the past few days. That is mainly because, Oppo R11 – the predecessor to the upcoming R11-S, shared its entire design with OnePlus 5. Now the chances of OnePlus coming up with the OnePlus 5T is getting stronger day after day and that’s what makes the phone more relevant than it is.
Taking a quick look at the images, Oppo R11-S features an 18:9 display at the front (which is the biggest “upgrade”) along with a single front-facing camera and an earpiece. From the back, it looks quite similar to the R11, but the antenna lines seem to have received a bit of a refresh – instead of two thin lines (like R11), the R11-S comes with a thicker single antenna line running along the top and the bottom. The dual camera setup along with an LED flash is also present on the back.
Another notable change is the absence of capacitive navigation keys and home button + fingerprint scanner combo on the front. The fingerprint scanner is moved to the back to make room for that tall display and the capacitive keys would be replaced by on-screen keys.
While the power button is located on the right side, volume rockers along with the SIM tray are placed on the left. At the bottom, there is a speaker grille, micro-USB port (Still Micro-USB??!!) and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Coming to the specification part of things, a recent Antutu listing revealed that the Oppo R11-S might feature the Snapdragon 660 coupled with Adreno 512 GPU, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage. The display resolution mentioned is 2160 x 1080 and the camera has two 20MP sensors. The specifications apart from screen and camera are quite in line with that of the Oppo R11. For instance, Oppo R11 had a 5.5 inch 1920×1080 AMOLED display and a 20MP + 16MP dual camera setup.
The handset appears to have 3 color variants: Red, Gold, and Black.
A bit about the OnePlus 5T
Now, coming back to the OnePlus 5T – Earlier it was rumored to share design cues with the upcoming Oppo F5, but the latest renders of OnePlus 5T does not share many similarities with the Oppo F5. Check out the latest OnePlus 5T leaks to know more.
By the way, Oppo F5 is set to be launched in the Philippines on October 26th and in India on November 2nd. Read more about the Oppo F5 here.
The images of Oppo R11-S that leaked today looks more in-line with the OnePlus 5T renders barring the shape of the fingerprint scanner. OnePlus 5T has also made an appearance on Oppo Mart where it is available for pre-orders at $549 (approx. Rs 35,700). According to Evan Blass (see the tweet), Oppo Mart is not a reliable source when it comes to upcoming smartphones, so take the information with a pinch of salt. He also mentioned (in this tweet) that OnePlus is working on an 18:9 device which might be released by the end of November.
OnePlus 5T will be more or less similar to that of the OnePlus 5 in terms of internals. As of now, the only thing we can do is to wait until OnePlus officially announces the OnePlus 5T.
