A long time ago, smartphone companies used to give free (and bulky) headphones with their phones. The trend subsided and now, all we get is a pair of earphones. However, some companies are attentive enough to give some high-quality accessories with their flagship phones. Samsung is one of these companies and is known for being generous towards its consumers.
Samsung’s recent Galaxy S8/S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 series come with the AKG tuned wired earphones straight out of the box. They offer a nice base without distorting the vocals. Due to this reason, they are a treat for all the audiophiles out there. The Galaxy S9/S9+ are launching in MWC next month and if we are to believe a rumour, the phones will come with wireless AKG headphones.
These wireless Bluetooth AKG over-the-head headphones are normally priced around $150! It sports a massive battery and can also be wired. This means that the company is able to retain the 3.5mm jack on their smartphones. The headphones can be used with and without a wire and this is an impressive addition according to me.
Back in 2014, the original AKG Y50 won the What Hi-Fi Product of the Year, with its good audio at a reasonable price. Now, we have the AKG Y50BT, where BT stands for Bluetooth. Don’t you find this freebie amusing?
You can also get the AKG Y50BT headphones for free if you buy the Galaxy Note 8 and S8/S8+. However, the deal is applicable to the phones purchased from the US only, and it runs from 16th January to 16th February.
One can claim the AKG Y50BT via either the Samsung US website or the official Samsung app, were these headphones will automatically be added to your cart once you purchase a qualifying Samsung smartphone.
So, for those who aren’t so patient to wait for the upcoming S9 and S9+, you have an extra incentive to go and take the plunge. Meanwhile, one can only presume and secretly hope that after Samsung releases the S9 and S9+, the previous S8 series will have their price tags shaved a bit.
