Yesterday, we discussed the possibility of the South Korean giant’s launching the world’s first foldable smartphone. To everyone’s surprise, Samsung has confirmed its stance on the revolutionary concept in the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show 2018 (CES). DJ Koh, the company’s Chief of Mobile Business, has announced that a smartphone with a foldable display will be launched in 2019.
Koh mentioned in 2017 that the company will unveil the device in 2018 only if they manage to overcome technical challenges. The UX of the phone is the most challenging aspect of this upcoming foldable device, according to him. Samsung has been burning the midnight oil for solving this glitch, and hence, the phone will be seen in 2019 only.
A publication has also revealed that this phone will have a fold-in design. On the surface, it would seem like an ordinary smartphone but as soon as you open it, it’ll be like opening a book and it will reveal a massive 7.3-inch display. By opening this foldable phone, you can use it like a tablet.
Along with announcing this, Koh has also confirmed that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will not launch in the CES 2018. The phones will be showcased in MWC only. Bixby 2.0 will also be launched this year and by the year 2020, all Samsung devices will have it.
