Samsung files a patent for notch design and hundred percent screen-to-body ratio

Samsung files patent for notch design

Samsung is all set to do something ironic. Not too long ago, the South Korean company mocked Apple for the notch design on its iPhone X. Samsung has now filed a patent for an identical notch design. It was quite unexpected of the company for many Chinese brands like Huawei and Xiaomi have adopted the notch. Fans and consumers were somewhat positive that the company will not include a notch on any upcoming phones.

However, we can also find a silver lining in this cloud if we look closely. The patent filed by the company includes a completely bezel-less design and a notch which will include an earpiece, proximity sensor and a selfie camera. However, we must not assume. It can be that the company is finding more ways to earn by filing this patent. This way, Samsung will be paid by the other manufacturing companies which try to make a smartphone with a notch.

Along with this, the patent includes all the possible positions for the rear camera, namely the horizontal, vertical on the middle and side of the panel. The volume rockers and power button on the left and right, respectively. The USB and headphone jack are placed on the bottom. However, an interesting position for the SIM tray has been filed. Samsung is planning on placing the tray on the top and this is a completely new design. It does have the potential to grow into a separate trend on its own.

Another patent has also been filed by Samsung and this one brings some major changes to the display. The company wants to patent a smartphone design with a hundred percent screen-to-body ratio. The position of the earpiece and the selfie camera will then become a mystery if this patented device turns into a reality. Is Samsung gearing up for the future then? We certainly hope so.
